Démarche artistique

Mon parcours artistique a débuté au Maroc où je suis née. J’ai commencé à dessiner depuis mon plus bas âge. Les couleurs fauves, ocre, rouges et orangées m’ont toujours sublimée. Couleurs du soleil ardent des après-midi durant lesquels les enfants de mon âge faisaient la sieste. Moi, je dessinais. Les portraits de préférence.
Ensuite, j’ai longtemps observé les artisans de l’argent : la fonte, la soudure, les alliages, l’émaillage de l’argent et de la fonte, les outils divers d’antan (dont on se sert encore d’ailleurs partout dans le monde). Plus tard, j’ai suivi un cours de dessin à l’Université de Franche-Comté en France tout en préparant une Maîtrise en Sciences du langage. J’ai œuvré dans le monde de l’Éducation pendant 28 ans en enseignant le français langue première et seconde. Je suis auteur de deux manuels scolaires à l’Éducation aux adultes. Au Québec, j’ai commencé à peindre à l’huile avec l’artiste peintre québécois Pierre Brault au cours du portrait à l’huile. L’initiation au paysage a été une étape qui a débuté avec mon déménagement dans cette magnifique région avec deux toiles exécutées à St-Hilaire. La création de bijoux est arrivée en dernière étape.
J’ai toujours été attirée par les pierres influencée certainement par mon père qui était géologue. Leur pérennité, leur force, leurs couleurs m’ont toujours séduite. Ne sont-elles pas ce qui a permis à l’humanité à combattre, construire, s’élever vers les cieux, pour certains être plus proches des Dieux, se chauffer, peindre, embellir, être humain…
Je m’assois à ma table et les pierres me parlent. Je sertis, j’enveloppe, j’habille les pierres et c’est en les manipulant que je ressens une paix intérieure. Les connaître demande une mémoire et un savoir infini, et ce qui est fascinant, c’est en les côtoyant chaque jour qu’on forge ses connaissances.
L’inspiration me vient en les palpant, en les observant. Même si j’ai un penchant pour les couleurs chaudes en peinture, je ne privilégie aucune pierre à une autre en joaillerie. Actuellement, je travaille l’ambre, la turquoise, le corail, le lapis lazuli et les perles de culture. Elles ont toutes une âme qui parle. En mariant l’argent à ces pierres semi-précieuses, je dessine des arabesques, des formes imaginaires afin de souder le métal qui épouse les contours de la pierre que j’ai parfois trouvée lors de randonnées, eue tant de plaisir à sculpter et à polir pendant des heures.
Créer un bijou est une préoccupation du moment, j’ignore où je commence et je ne sais pas où je vais aboutir. Certes, mon bagage culturel arrive toujours à me rejoindre, mais c’est l’inspiration du moment qui compte. Cet instant est envoûtant, serein.

My artistic career began in Morocco where I was born. I started drawing since I was a young child and the tawny colors of Ocher, Red and Orange have always drawn me. When the children of my age were napping during the burning afternoon sun I drew. My preference was drawing portraits.
I have observed the Silver Smiths over a period of time using the various tools of ancient times (which are still used elsewhere around the world) - cast iron, solder, alloys, enameling and melting Silver. Later, I completed an Art class at the University of Franche-Comté in France while preparing for a Masters in Linguistics. I worked in the world of Education for 28 years teaching French language first and second. I am the author of two text books in Adult Education. In Quebec, I started learning Portrait oil painting with the Quebec Artist, painter Pierre Brault. Initiation to landscape painting was a step that began with my move in this beautiful area with two canvases painted in St-Hilaire. Jewelry design has reached the last stage.
I have always been attracted to stones - certainly Influenced by my Father who was a Geologist - their durability, strength and their colors have always fascinated me. Are they not allowing humanity to be peaceful, build, climb to the heavens and for some to be closer to the Gods, to use them for heat, to paint, to embellish, to be human...?
I sit at my table and the stones speak to me. I crimp, I cover, I dress the stones and it is by working with them that I feel an inner peace. To learn about them is an infinite knowledge, and what is fascinating is to learn about them every day.
The inspiration comes by touching and observing. Even though I have a penchant for warm colors in painting, I prefer stone to any other jewelry. Currently I am working with Amber, Turquoise, Coral, Lapis Lazuli and Cultured Pearls. They all have a soul that speaks. By marrying Silver to these semi-precious stones, I draw arabesques, imaginary forms to weld the metal. I had so much fun carving and polishing for hours the contours of the stone that I sometimes found during walks.
Creating a gem is a concern of the moment, I do not know where I will start and I do not know how I will succeed. Admittedly, my cultural background always comes to join me, but it is the inspiration of the moment that counts. This moment is captivating, serene.
My artistic approach is in fact a march towards serenity, this needs to be satisfied and I have in my hand a piece of art full of life. Ultimately, my artistic journey has a variety of mediums and is marked by my discoveries accompanying my journey, my travels and my quest to discover new techniques. This is what drives my creative process.
